The Matador series from Private director Jean Yves Lecastel would be indistinguishable from most of Private's other titles if it weren't for the "matador" technique which involves lifting a girl up toward the camera for full exposure, breaking the momentum during anal sex. If this were all that Lecastel's work offered, he would be easily forgettable, but the good qualities of his videos are usually many: Lecastel seems to recruit the best-looking talent from Europe's porn capitals, and he shoots with a pace that never takes itself too seriously. European adult fare can be goofy and strangemore… to American eyes. Lecastel capitalizes on this notion by using simple, many times cliched, scenarios that lead into passionate, many times rough, sex scenes.
Ignore the trite dialogue and attempts at plot and acting. It's clear the cast did too. What matters here are the crop of fresh-faced talent and the unique settings with their foreign flavor. The mix of women here is far from the cookie-cutter California mold seen in most all American videos. Ranging here from svelte, tone vixen Lucy to voluptuous Krystal de Boor, the women of Sex Tapes come in all shapes and sizes and all of them are sexy, sensuous and a delight to watch.
Two men, Steve Holmes and David Perry, get the lion's share of the action in Sex Tapes, but again it's really all about the women. Opening in Steve's office (he's some sort of porn producer), the obligatory senseless phone call is interrupted by the obligatory senseless screw. No complaints here though as he is double teamed by young sex kitten Rita Faltoyano and sensual Monika. Rita is the standout here with her almost-too-young face and certainly-old-enough body. She is the focus of most of the hardcore pounding, but both ladies share Steve's orgasm from tongue to tongue.
Next up is Sandy, an antiques shopworker, who encounters and entices David Perry. While this certainly isn't the most extreme or outrageous scene, Sandy is so incredibly cute that it's worth a good long look. Sandy has the appeal of the most gorgeous girl you might see in real life - cheerleader, coed, shopkeep, etc. - only this time exposed here for all to see in incredible sexual glory. An even sexier move, she keeps her stylish little sunglasses on for the entire scene.
Natalie is Russian export (and in this context, also a shopkeep of some sort) Natalie who meets Steve while on his quest for a missing videotape of some sort. While she can't help right away, in the meantime she offers up every orifice for Steve's plunder. She's a hot little number, also in the mold of the very pretty natural girl who really does exist rather than the pneumatic clones pictured in the U.S. Incidentally, Natalie's mother was also a Private model in 1965. Sadly, there are no vintage stills to be found on the DVD.
David Perry has to take a leak, and in struts Lucy. Lucy is a Hungarian 19 year old and, truly, like no other 19 year old on the planet. She's tall and tone and, apparently, is as studied at how to have wild sex like a woman twice her age. The scene she has with David is rough, intense and would be humiliating if in the end you didn't realize that Lucy is one tough broad who is definitely in control.
Back in the office, David gets to know Krystal de Boor as the naughty secretary. Krystal has a lovely face with very strong eyes. She also has a very full chest and a luscious body that looks wonderful in her energetic scene.
Natalie makes a last appearance, bringing the missing videotape back to its rightful owner at the Private offices. As reward for her efforts, she is treated to a private screening and a threeway with Steve and a nice-looking male associate. This finale isn't necessarily full of fireworks, but it does contain a pretty intense standing DP.
Sex Tapes is not dramatically better than most Private videos, but there are a lot of good reasons to add this video to any collection of Euro-made porn. The girls all have different looks and all look great. In true Private style, the sex is intense and heavily anal-focused, but at the same time there is a great deal of theming to each scene. The overall lighthearted tone also does wonders for this video's watchability. The usual bonus features are here too including a nice behind-the-scenes report, production notes, cast credits, previews, etc. all in a splashy graphic package - one of the many ways Private consistently outperforms its American production counterparts.
It is worth noting that this is one of the rare Private titles which features all of the talent speaking English. It's hard to say whether listening to thick accents struggle with simple words is better than the often atrocious dubbing, but it is charming to hear each actress in her real voice rather than a generic, canned voice.
