Fans should pretty much know what they are getting when they purchase a Jim Holliday title - lots of well-filmed sex, some of the most beautiful women in the adult industry, and a plot and dialogue that is light, yet fun and witty. Unfortunately, Holliday's latest title only brings us the attractive women and the sex, as the script for Floss is unfunny and often way over-the-top, even for a Holliday film.

What is more worrisome is the fact that on the commentary track (which Jim has been adding to all his DVD releases) Holliday seems oblivious to the fact that he may have mademore… a bad film. There's nothing wrong with tooting your own horn, but when your trying to make a lemon look like lemonade, that's a whole other story.

A big chunk of the problem with Floss is the amount of screentime devoted to William Margold (obviously, in a non-sex role), who plays the creator of this ultra-thin line of women's bikinis - the joke being that there is nothing on the hangers at all and the girls prance around totally naked. It's hard to tell whether Holliday instructed Margold to play the character the way he did or if Margold just doesn't have any acting ability, but after about 60 seconds watching his character, you'll be cringing every time he makes an appearance in the movie.

However, I do understand that there are many of you who will be picking up this title just for the sex, and in that realm, things are not nearly as bad. Perhaps Holliday's best skill as an adult filmmaker is making his sex scenes fun and interesting to watch, and viewers will get a handful of entertaining ones in this title.

The fun starts with Violet Blue and Evan Stone, as Evan stuffs a purple dildo deep into Violet's ass. There is no penetration here, but it's a good way to start the movie.

Evan does get to give his cock a workout in the second segment of the film, where he teams up with Chandler. After some blowjob action and a little 69 fun, Evan fucks her missionary style - both in the pussy and in the ass. The scene concludes with Evan unloading on her face - with most of the cum hitting her chin.

Those who enjoy lesbian action will be happy to hear that there are two segments in this film devoted to three-way girl loving. First up is Allysin Chaynes, Felecia and Bunny Luv, and then for the conclusion of the movie, Allysin teams up with Carolyn Monroe and Tanya Danielle. Of these two scenes, the latter is definitely the most entertaining, as Allysin gives it to both Carolyn and Tanya with vibes, and there's also some nice 69 action between Carolyn and Tanya.

The best straight action in the film occurs with Dillion Day, as he contributes two nice facial shots - the first to Summer Storm and the second (later in the movie) to Chandler. Dillion also has a threesome with Allysin and Shayla LaVeaux - although in that scene he cums on the girls feet - and they promptly start sucking each other's toes!

As with most VCA releases, the video and audio here are very well-done. The features on this DVD include the already-mentioned commentary track with Jim (as well as Shayla LaVeaux), multiple angles, an approximately 20-minute behind the scenes featurette, a slide show and three previews for other Jim Holliday movies.

Despite the fact that there is some nice sex in Floss, it really can’t make up for the movie's lack of story and focus. If it were any other filmmaker, I might be more lenient in my review, but Holliday has made enough good movies in the past that when a clunker like Floss comes around, he deserves to get a wake-up call to remind him what made him so popular in the first place. Floss isn't as bad as a root canal - but like any trip to the dentist, you'll probably wish you were somewhere else.
